How We Test Marketing Automation Platforms
Our review process is hands-on and thorough. Each platform undergoes a minimum of 30 hours of real-world testing across multiple use cases — from simple email drip campaigns to complex multi-channel automation workflows.

Automation Workflow Testing — We build and execute 10+ automation workflows per platform, ranging from simple welcome sequences to advanced branching logic with conditional triggers, time delays, and multi-channel touchpoints. We evaluate visual builder quality, template variety, and debugging tools.

Email Deliverability Assessment — Using a standardized test of 1,000 emails sent to seed addresses across Gmail, Outlook, and Yahoo, we measure inbox placement rate, spam folder rate, and bounce handling. We also assess built-in deliverability tools like SPF/DKIM configuration, dedicated IPs, and warm-up features.

Lead Scoring Accuracy — We set up lead scoring models and feed them with 500 simulated prospect interactions to evaluate scoring precision, behavioral tracking depth, and predictive capabilities. We test both rule-based and AI-driven scoring where available.

Integration Depth — Every platform is tested with major CRMs (Salesforce, HubSpot CRM, Pipedrive), e-commerce platforms (Shopify, WooCommerce), and popular tools (Slack, Zapier, Google Analytics). We assess native integrations, API quality, and webhook reliability.

Reporting & Analytics Quality — We evaluate dashboard customization, campaign performance tracking, attribution modeling, A/B test reporting, and ROI calculation capabilities. Real-time vs. delayed reporting is also noted.

Ease of Use — Our team of 3 reviewers rates the onboarding experience, UI intuitiveness, documentation quality, and learning curve. We time how long it takes to set up a complete automation workflow from scratch.
